- For safety reasons, we do not recommend participation on any snorkel activity if you are pregnant, have respiratory problems, injuries, back/neck issues, heart conditions, or conditions that can cause loss of consciousness.

Do You Know?
- The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is the largest fish that exists on the planet, and can reach up to 18 meters in length!
- This species prefers the warm surface water, or areas where there are outbreaks of colder water rich in nutrients, since these conditions are conducive to the growth of the plankton which it is fed. This is one of the reasons why there are so many individuals in the waters of Holbox (Quintana Roo), during the summer.
- The stains that are the whale sharks have generated various local names such as domino or fish lady, alluding to the board game. Each individual has a unique pattern of spots that allows individual identification, is how your fingerprint as it does not change with growth. They may also have a social function of “attractive”.
- The whale shark is usually a solitary species, though it is sometimes seen living with schools of jacks, stingrays and other whale sharks.
- The Whale Shark does not have features in common with conventional whales with the sole exception of its size and the fact that they only eat by collecting tiny plankton with its’ mouth open. Normally feeds on the surface or slightly below this, filtering through their gills the small organisms (plankton), both of which are in the water.
- Whale sharks are viviparous animals and sometimes their calves can be seen swimming with the elderly. Although there are no exact studies of reproductive biology, there have been pregnant female whale sharks up with up to 300 pups!
- The whale shark is very soft and gentle, and not afraid when approaching divers or swimmers.
- The little information that has been generated so far, is that the longevity of the whale shark reaches 100 years.
- The distribution of the whale shark covers all the tropical waters (except the Mediterranean Sea), that is to say, those waters that are located between the two tropics of the globe, and which are identified by their warm temperatures.
- According to the Official Mexican Norm NOM-059-SEMARNAT-2001, this beautiful animal is under the category of threatened, and is currently protected by agencies and national laws that regulate the whale shark as the Conanp (National Commission of Protected Natural Areas) that is why we must respect the rules of the activity. As well as the months that we are only allowed to do it.
It is important to know that these trips are of adventure – we can see 1 Shark, we can see many sharks, or we can see no sharks.
